Flooding up from the storm drains and tainting the Thirst drinking water this month is a recent shoe box discovery of a C60 cassette mix from Teep’s mid 1990′s tape label, Rorschach Tekniques. As the name suggests the prevailing soiled sounds here are rolling electro, percussive techno, and low ph acid from artists like Unit Moebius, The Advent, Arzach, and Radiosilence. Due to the caustic nature of this mix, prior to descent into the sewer, the donning of rubber waders and a gas mask is highly recommended.

This C60 cassette tape recording remained simply called “untitled” for over 8 years, until more recently it’s meaning occurred to me. On a whim I sent it to welt-am-draht for consideration for play, and it was well received and broadcast on 03.11.05. It is available now from here beyond the pale.

a look back to DEMF 2001, complete with pictures. the a side here is titled “catching up” and features the recloose “I can” vs “I can’t take it” remixes by carl and theo. the b side is titled “on the move” with shake’s ‘roaming’ and two 69 tracks separated by the caustic window.

all kdj material mix, from a limited number but potent supply of moodymann CD’s and vinyl. this is music to put miles on…running to or from someone.

an early classic – mixed on a full moon of course. side a sounds here range from pure ambient, IDM, to downtempo. (think black dog, wagon christ, afx) side b picks up the flow with more electro, some harder and softer IDM. (think aux 88, mu-ziq, connection machine)

this is my 1/2 of a split C90 [RTspy001] I did with NY DJ Matthew Lehrer back in 1997. it was released on black and white cassettes with original illustrated cover art courtesy of the affable vinnie arnone. this here is your map through the crusty tape hiss!

A personal favorite, Lego brings together my love for nostalgic melodies, complex polyrhthms, and rolling electro. both side a and b open with layered vocals from Ingrid Bergman’s monologue of the play “The Human Voice” a passionate tale of deception, despair, and heartache…the perfect compliment to the music presented here.

what do you know about that? raw style electro, roughly mixed, roughly recorded, but with sweet touching surprises throughout. a well worn oldie, but runnin still.

both side a and b here bring a freaky array of freeform electronics. hard to pin down, all over the place, hyper panic genre blending bizness, but always keeping it close to the electro side of things. (think dope computer, gescom, drexciya, hott, DJ K1, the connection machine, bochum welt)
