Thirst’s return to the Fall 2007 programming schedule begins with a long drink from a tall cool glass of water, the punctual yet pretty, abrasive yet alluring, seething yet soothing musical icon and anti-hero, Siouxsie Sioux. Dazzle is not meant to be a “best of” or even historical survey of her long musical career, rather as the title suggests, Dazzle will feature the moments that I feel her star power is truly shining.
Through the 2-hour program I hope to monitor some of the early sounds then shift with a slap dash snap to the more electronix. Towards the middle we’ll slowdive into the deep and orchestrated movements to arrive at the pluto bestiary and release the Creatures to get their fair play. Once un-caged, and set free, they sound ironically gentle and tame. The finale will seek to break Siouxsie from her Cocoon and let her music stride brightly into contemporary shades of the sea of light.
