Yet, right from the first mix I could feel Torq was going to throw some fits on the long playing tracks here, but when it slipped and skipped, the fix was just to stick with the mix. Women’s Flat Track Derby is an emerging national and international sports phenomena that promotes and fosters the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill.

On this night 4 members (and 1 Referee!) of the Boston Derby Dames league dropped in to WMBR’s House Therapy slot to join DJ Teep. The guests, Harley Quinn, Harlot Fevah, Maude Forbid, Etta Maims and Jeff Da Ref talked up past and future league bouts as well as covering the changes and growth of their league.

House music took a back seat while electronix drove the show this week. Starting things off with a portion of the fantastic Blackploid mix from the mega-eclectic Diskokaine site served up by even more eccentric, Marflow. From there we shuttled to the Augsburg underworld with a song from the new Beta Evers on Nation and second new release on her own label startup “Venus Noir“. Along the way hearing another new song from Sam Lowry (aka Manasyt) and a good dose of acid from Beverly Hills 808303. All in all a very fun night, but one that will live on only in memory and with playlist. No download is available for this show.

As mentioned earlier this night I was pressed into action to fill the 8-10PM slot for a sub that did not show. Those were two hours I had set aside to prepare for the 10-midnight House Therapy slot, alas, they were put to other use. As result you have here 100 minutes of completely spontaneous selection and mixing. Freewheeling a set like this has it’s plusses and minuses, one one hand anything can happen… on the other hand, anything can happen. In this set, anything does indeed happen, including accidentally hitting the stop button with my elbow, or breaking into a sing along over “Someone Great” or just being *very* heavy handed with the Fireworks sound effect cart.

On Thursday I knew Thao would not be at the station for her usual two hours of Nonstop. Ecstatic. Screaming., what I did not know was that her arranged sub would also not be at the station. Luckily, I *was* at the station at 8PM, specifically to prepare for my slot later that evening, so I just threw on the mix that was supposed to be my House Therapy lead in and started setting up early. Once I had the decks and mixer ready to go, I got down to the business of spontaneously combusting an hour live mix.
